kFlickr is a standalone Flickr uploader for KDE. It allows for easy upload of photos with drag and drop from other applications (Konqueror). kFlickr also edits common attributes (title, description, privacy, tags) before sending the photo. Multiple users and batch editing of photos are supported.
This tutorial describes how to configure KFlickr and to start sending your photos. I assume that you’ve got your own Flickr account.
- Install the application. kFlickr is packaged for easy installation on many Linux distros including Debian GNU/Linux, Gentoo, openSuSE, and Ubuntu.
- Start KFlickr. Press Authenticate New User button. A dialog will appear. Click Authorize.
- KFlickr will open a Konqueror window, asking you for your Yahoo! ID and password.
- You will be informed that KFlickr wants to link to your Flickr account. Press OK, I’ll allow it.
- Close the Konqueror window and return to KFlickr. Press Complete Authorization. A new user will be added.
- Press Add button or Ctrl and +. Add files you want to upload, they will appear in KFlickr. Then select one of chosen photos.
- Define title, size of photo, licence (Creative Commons or All Right Reserved), assign image to previously created photoset, and add some tags. KFlickr also allows you to keep your photos private.
- Select next image.
- Delete unwanted photos (Remove button).
- Press Upload. KFlickr will upload photos into your Flickr account.

This tool works really great. Finally a good way to upload photos to flickr, since the upload page on flickr.com still doesn’t work with konqueror, and the file selection dialog in firefox is inferior under linux (no image preview for example).
